WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Hernia International Carpenter was established in 2018 in Northampton, UK. The charity organises medical missions to Northern Ghana.

The first mission took place in 2007, under the umbrella of Operation Hernia and later missions with Hernia International, led by Professor Kingsnorth and our good friend Mr Magdi Hanafy.
The surgical mission to Carpenter and the villages of Northern Ghana is known as 'The jewel of all the hernia missions'.
The charity now supports the new Leyaata Hospital and are proud to be one of their Ghana Health partners.

We shall measure our progress by the improvement in the health of our people; by the number of children in school, and by the quality of their education; by the availability of water and electricity in our towns and villages; and by the happiness which our people take in being able to manage their own affairs.

Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana.

Our  Beliefs

EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO HEALTHCARE

Fighting Inequality

Hernia International Carpenter was established to  raise funds raised to support improved healthcare and ensure these funds directly reach the people of the region.

The charity funds are used to purchase essential equipment for the annual mission to deliver hernia surgery.

Any additional funds are directed towards the funding of education programmes for the new hospital for the region.

PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATION IS KEY TO SUCCESS

Sustainable impacts

Hernia International Carpenter ensures that funds raised are used to directly reach the people of the region. The charity funds are used to purchase essential equipment for the annual missions to deliver hernia surgery.

EDUCATION IS THE PATHWAY TO A BETTER FUTURE

Helping Others

Ghana’s Northern Region has one of the lowest literacy rates in the country. Yet education is critical for long-term development.

Education opens up opportunities for men and women and is the key driver for improvement.

Hernia International continues to support healthcare education programmes within the hospital and the community.
