GET TO KNOW US

Sustainable impact

In the beginning, the only support we were able to provide was to visit each year and undertake as many hernia procedures as possible in 2 weeks.

All equipment needed for the surgeries was collected from generous donors, and purchased using the essential funds donated to the charity.  Surgery was performed in makeshift operating theatres.  All our volunteers were self funded.

In August 2022 the Leyaata Hospital was commissioned and opened to patients in November 2022.  We were invited to visit the hospital, with our Canadian partners, the Ghana Health team to work with Dr Ben Asubiojo, Consultant Surgeon and Medical Director and his team.

"Too frequently we think we have to do spectacular things.

Yet if we remember that the sea is actually made up of drops of water and each drop counts, each one of us can do our little bit where we are.

Those little bits can come together and almost overwhelm the world"
